Welcome to the Secondary Education Program at Westfields International School!
At Westfields International School, our Secondary Education program (Grades 7 to 12) follows a globally aligned K–12 curriculum designed to meet international learning standards. We integrate Oxford and Cambridge learning materials to ensure that students experience high-quality, globally benchmarked academic content.
Our teaching approach is guided by Cambridge and Oxford methodologies, allowing students to engage in a more international style of learning that emphasizes critical thinking, depth of understanding, and academic rigor.
To further support academic development, students take Cambridge Checkpoint assessments in Year 9 and Year 11. These internationally recognized examinations allow us to measure student progress against global standards and ensure readiness for higher academic pathways.
Through this approach, we aim to develop learners who are globally competitive, academically prepared, and ready for university success both locally and internationally.
Overview of Our Secondary Education Program:
International Curriculum Framework:
Our curriculum is designed based on a globally aligned K–12 framework, supported by Cambridge and Oxford learning standards. We integrate internationally recognized teaching approaches to ensure students receive high-quality, globally benchmarked education.
Using Oxford and Cambridge learning materials, the curriculum fosters a strong academic foundation while encouraging students to think critically, solve problems, and engage meaningfully with global perspectives. This approach nurtures both academic excellence and a deeper understanding of real-world issues.
Global Mindset: We cultivate a global mindset in our students by integrating international themes and perspectives into our lessons. Students engage with diverse cultures, histories, and viewpoints, preparing them to navigate an interconnected world.
Checkpoint Exams in Year 9: Students in Year 9 (Grade 8) undertake Cambridge Checkpoint exams, which provide valuable feedback on their academic progress and readiness for the next stage of their education. These assessments help tailor learning experiences to individual student needs and promote a sense of accountability in their learning journey.
GCSEs in Year 11: In Year 11 (Grade 10), students take the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) exams. This pivotal stage allows students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills across various subjects, preparing them for further academic pursuits while emphasizing real-world applications.
Senior High School Offering:
Our Senior High School program offers three academic pathways: the K–12 Diploma, Cambridge International Education, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Each pathway is designed within a globally aligned academic framework that supports diverse student goals and university directions.
Careers, Higher Education, and Testing Support:
We have a dedicated department that assists students in navigating their university application journey, whether locally or internationally. Through strong partnerships with universities in the Philippines and abroad, we provide guidance in career planning, course selection, and admission requirements. Our team is committed to supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals.
As early as Year 10 and Year 11 (Grades 9 and 10), students are exposed to university preparation activities such as career guidance and university fairs. Each year, we also host an International Student Fair, where colleges and universities from both local and international institutions visit our campus to present opportunities, engage with students, and provide insights into different academic pathways. This allows students to explore studying abroad while also receiving full support for those who choose to pursue higher education locally.
This department also works hand in hand with both parents and students throughout the university application process, whether for local or international institutions. We provide continuous support from planning to application and beyond, ensuring that students are guided every step of the way. Whatever their chosen pathway, we are committed to supporting them all the way.
